Brady Nichols, a PhD student at UC Davis, wrote an excellent article based on my SICB 2025 talk on water striders. The article is titled ‘Doing the “righting” thing: How leaping water striders achieve a perfect landing‘ and focuses on how these bugs jump ten times their body length, self-right in mid-air within milliseconds, and consistently land uprigth using leg-mediated aerial control.
