    Ripple bugs

    15 May 2025 | [email protected]| Uncategorized|0 Comment

Seattle. News from Science highlighted my talk at SICB2024 on Rhagovelia water striders. We discovered that their feathered fan can passively open in the water as a paintbrush in less than 10 ms. These insects can perform ultra fast turns, and produce vortical wakes that resemble flying insects. We also found that ripple bugs almost never rest and are active during day and night.
